GINgle bells, GINgle bells, GINgle all the way!
Cider, apple wine, cider or cider: It's all the same, isn't it?
Yes, I always thought so too, so I did some research for you.
First the obvious: all drinks are made from
apples
and
contain alcohol
.
The differences arise in the duration of the manufacturing process.
Cider
, also known as sparkling apple wine, is particularly popular in England and Ireland and has a longer aging process.
Freshly tapped, it has an alcohol content of up to 8%.
French
cider
, on the other hand, only contains 2 to 4% alcohol and tastes sweeter than the relatively bitter cider.
So and what about the Hessian "
Ebbelwoi
“?
It tastes similar to cider with one big difference: it is not carbonated.
You let them escape naturally.
Most
is exactly the same, it's just called differently depending on the region.
So now we're all a little smarter and deserve a warm drink.
cheers
!
That's how it's done:
You only need a few ingredients:
600 ml cider
2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise
2 cardamom pods
80 ml gin
1 apple, sliced
The preparation is very simple:
In a saucepan, carefully heat the cider, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cardamom pods and gin.
Sweeten to taste with sugar, honey or agave syrup.
Pour into cups and garnish with apple slices and cinnamon sticks.
Cheers!
Grab it while it's hot!
