This week, US actor Henry Cavill announced that his time as "Superman" was over.

According to the industry portal "Variety", he has now confirmed again: After three seasons he will no longer play in the fantasy series "The Witcher".

Instead, Liam Hemsworth takes on his role as Geralt of Rivia.

In October, Cavill announced via Instagram that he was leaving The Witcher.

After the news of his end as "Superman", however, some fans suspected that he could now return after all.

According to media reports, this is not the case.

Filmmaker James Gunn previously tweeted that he had been in discussions with Cavill about "a number of exciting opportunities for future collaboration."

He did not elaborate on what the projects mentioned are about.

However, Henry Cavill is apparently planned in a new fantasy series for Amazon, which should primarily appeal to gamers.

According to media reports, Amazon wants to film the fantasy game »Warhammer 40,000« after reaching an agreement with the games company Games Workshop Group.

The British company said Amazon could use the game's idea and intellectual property for film and television productions.

Amazon initially did not comment.

According to media reports, actor Henry Cavill will play a leading role in the series.

Even »The Witcher« is visually based on a video game series of the same name.

The plot is based on the »Geralt Saga« by the Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
