Who does not know it?

When you crack eggs in the pan, it often happens that parts of the shell slip in too.

A video promises a remedy – but is the tip life-threatening in the end?

No matter how you twist and turn it: even the most skilled can happen that something goes wrong when frying eggs.

It usually starts with breaking the eggs.

Whether for an omelette or when baking: If you are not careful or hit the edge of the pan or bowl precisely, the egg will break in two and parts of the shell will end up inside.

With the result that you have to work hard to remove the small pieces from the egg white or yolk.

But a life hack is going viral on Instagram that wants to clear it up once and for all.

Egg life hack goes viral on Instagram - but is it dangerous?

In it, a man shows how he just plops an egg with its shell into an empty pan.

Finally, as if by magic, the man takes the broken egg shell out of the pan and lo and behold: it is easily removed and a perfect egg remains in the pan.

User Dustin Hadley really wants to try it too and he succeeds right away the first time.

At the end, he looks into the camera in amazement and enthusiasm.

The American writes under his video: "This egg life hack has changed my life."

Other Instagram users probably see it the same way, the clip has already received over 325,000 likes.

Some celebrate the tip, but one cautions that it's best not to try if the pan already has grease in it and it's hot.

He even suffered third-degree burns.

Another then asks: “Who cooks eggs when the pan isn’t hot?” But the egg life hack is not just a mystery, others even warn of it and claim it is life-threatening.

Danger of salmonella due to eggshell - users clarify

One user says: "Just so you know: salmonella is on the outside of the eggshell, not in the egg itself. If you do that, your risk increases by 100 percent." Another user agrees: "You know why we don't do that make?

Because we don't want to transfer any pathogens and chicken droppings that are on the eggshell into our food." Another user clarifies: "Don't do that, in the USA chickens are not vaccinated against salmonella.

You expose the bacteria-free yolk and albumen to the germ-covered eggshell, which exposes salmonella to the inside of the egg.”

When someone else asks if it's not enough to wash the bowl beforehand, he says no.

This is not a problem with lettuce, but it is with eggs.

The warm water enriched with detergent is a breeding ground for the bacteria.

This in turn could lead to the salmonella being transferred to other surfaces.

What many also don't know: the egg carton can already be contaminated with germs, which is why it should never be reused.

Instead, the user recommends that the others simply practice cracking the egg open on a pan or something similar as usual.

This would work well after a few attempts and you do not expose yourself to the risk of infection.
