(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 18 - The measure envisaged by the maneuver which raises the threshold beyond which merchants are required to accept electronic payments to 60 euros is in the balance.
"Does the POS obligation remain? That is an objective of the Pnrr and therefore we are negotiating it with the EU Commission - replied Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, leaving Palazzo Madama after the Christmas concert -. If there are no margins, we will invent another way not to make merchants pay bank commissions on small payments".
"The maneuver never has easy approval - the Prime Minister observed again - we are all doing our job, but I think we did our best, in the conditions and within the times they had, to give parliament the possibility of having time to evaluate it. I recall that a government that was not born in October but in February, presented the maneuver on November 20. We were also very willing to evaluate the merits of the individual proposals that arrived. And if good ones arrive, it will be no problem to go into them further. The approach is prejudicial, the government must make the government and the opposition the opposition".
