Exactly a year ago, vaccination against Covid-19 was open to children aged 5 to 11.
The High Authority for Health (HAS) recommends this Monday to widen the target to those aged 6 months to 5 years, and "at risk of a serious form of the disease and death", as Germany has already done. and the Netherlands in particular.
This recommendation is issued nearly two months after the favorable opinion issued by the European Medicines Agency for the vaccination of children under 5 years old.
The Pfizer pediatric vaccine will be used, with a three-dose schedule.
The HAS notably took into account data from Public Health France, according to which “those under 1 year old represented 70% of hospitalizations for 0-17 year olds and 84% of admissions to critical care”.
She also reviewed data from the Pfizer vaccine, which found that three doses are "80.3% effective against symptomatic infections for all age groups between 6 months to 4 years who have no history of infection. ".
