In Hamburg, a 61-year-old was sentenced to eight years and ten months in prison for manslaughter, the district court said.
On May 2, the man stabbed his neighbor for watching TV too loud.
The 61-year-old had stabbed the 66-year-old at least twelve times.
During the trial, the accused described how he had suffered for years from the noise of his neighbors who lived in the apartment above him.
The loud TV didn't bother him that much during the day, but he couldn't sleep at night.
In addition, the 66-year-old neighbor often had visitors, he talked loudly with his acquaintances, sometimes bottles rolled across the floor, the accused said in the trial at the Hamburg Regional Court.
Neighbor warned several times
There was even an eviction lawsuit against the noisy neighbors.
But this went in his favor, he did not have to leave the apartment.
After the crime, the accused turned himself in to the Fuhlsbüttel prison.
The verdict is not yet legally binding.
