(ANSA) - MADRID, DECEMBER 19 - In the last five years, at least 11,286 people have been found dead or missing while trying to reach Spain along migratory routes: this is according to Caminando Fronteras, an NGO specializing in migration towards the Iberian country, underlining that the deaths or disappearances of this type average six per day.
In a report Caminando Fronteras indicates that the most dangerous area in this area is that of the Atlantic Ocean which separates north-western Africa from the Canary Islands, a point where 7,692 people died between 2018 and 2022.
Of the total victims of the last five years, 1,272 were women and 377 were children.
The NGO also calculates that at least 241 conmigrant boats have "completely disappeared with all their passengers on board".
