(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 20 - Cash remains the preferred payment method for Europeans in shops, but with a rapidly decreasing share to 59% of the total in 2022, against 72% in 2019.
A decline that takes into account the advance of card payments, which rose by nine percentage points to 34% of the total in 2022 and with a preponderance of contactless payments.
This can be read in a study by the ECB on the payment habits of Europeans, according to which the share of online purchases on total daily transactions has tripled in three years, leaping from 6% in 2019 to 17% in 2022. (ANSA).
