Salmonella was detected in a quark from an organic dairy as part of internal checks.

The affected product is being recalled.

Biesenthal - The Lobetal organic dairy is recalling a batch of its "Qurt vanilla" quark.

Salmonella had been detected in it as part of self-checks.

The company said on Monday (December 19) in a press release.

Eating the quark can lead to diarrhea, abdominal pain and a slight fever.

"Since the health of our customers is particularly important to us, we ask that you do not eat this product and we are recalling this item immediately," the company said in a statement.

Other products from the Lobetal organic dairy are not affected by the salmonella.

Quark recall: diarrhea, abdominal pain and fever possible

Salmonella disease is a typical foodborne infection.

According to the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA), sudden diarrhea, headache and abdominal pain, general malaise and occasional vomiting are common symptoms.

In addition, infected people often have a slight fever.

According to the BZgA, the disease breaks out after six to 72 hours after infection, but usually after twelve to 36 hours.

The symptoms often last for several days, but then subside on their own.

Eggs have recently been recalled due to suspected salmonella.

The same applies to a recall at dm, an organic product was affected here.
