During its annual developer conference in India, Google shared a new feature being tested in the country.

Thanks to Google Lens's artificial intelligence updates, the giant will make it possible to "decipher" the often illegible writing of doctors, in prescriptions and manual reports, using the smartphone camera.

Just take a photo of the document or upload one from the library to detect and highlight the medicines mentioned.

Lens is a feature already present in Pixel series phones and downloadable on other Android and iPhones (in the Google app) that allows you to recognize the framed elements to obtain additional information and even translations into multiple languages, in real time.

The understanding of handwriting is currently being tested with the network of pharmacists in India, not a ready-made product for the public, even if the premises bode well.

"Once finalized, we will have assistive technology support for the digitization of handwritten medical documents. However, no decisions will be made solely based on the output provided by the system," the company said in a statement.

Google for India is the company's annual event referring to the South Asian market, where the giant presents various developments in its various fields of intervention.

Also included is a new text understanding model that is expected to cover more than 100 Indian languages, with models for use in the group's translation apps.

In India,

Google can count on a user base that has exceeded half a billion although, during 2022, it had to face several disputes with the regulatory authorities.

The latest in October, when the Antitrust fined Big G 160 million dollars for its position of absolute dominance on the country's smartphone market.
