In the case of a completely stolen road in Zittau, East Saxony, investigators in Thuringia have achieved success: A suspect who has been suspected for a long time has now been arrested in Erfurt.
This is reported unanimously by the "Sächsische Zeitung" and the MDR, citing the federal police.
The 55-year-old, against whom there was an arrest warrant from the Görlitz district court, is said to have literally unpaved an entire street at the Zittau freight station with accomplices about a year ago.
The loot, a total of 112 tons of granite paving, was apparently sold over the internet.
According to the police, the stones, worth around 45,000 euros, are said to have been removed with the help of a small excavator and at least one truck.
According to their own statements, investigators have now secured extensive evidence on the suspect's homestead.
The officials had found the man on the trail of witnesses after he had been wanted in a public manhunt.
The police are investigating particularly serious theft, fraud and property damage.
