(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, DECEMBER 19 - The president of the American Supreme Court, John Roberts, has issued a provision that temporarily maintains the so-called 'title 42', an emergency health measure introduced by Donald Trump in the name of the fight against Covid to allow the US government to to expel without the possibility of appealing asylum-seeking migrants who illegally cross the border with Mexico.
A federal judge ruled that the measure should be withdrawn Wednesday, but Roberts granted an urgent request for a stay of 19 states to lead the Republican, according to which the measure is necessary to avoid a further increase in migration flows on the southern border.
The suspension will allow the Supreme Court to enter into the merits of the appeal in the next few days.
