Merav Gut referred to the incident in which a patient pulled out a weapon and threatened to shoot himself if he did not receive the medicine • "In recent years we have experienced a large increase in incidents of violence in clinics and hospitals

After the "Israel Hayom" exposure: Merav Gut, director of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa General District, commented today (Wednesday) on the violent incident that took place at the clinic in Holon: "The staff members are under trauma and we are accompanying them with professional staff members."

"A passer-by entered the dispensary and asked for medicine, he pulled out a gun and threatened the lives of the staff," Gut described the violent incident at the clinic.

"The security team and the security guard gave an initial response, and called the police who took control of the incident. Of course the team members are traumatized and we accompany them with a professional team."

Gotti emphasized that "in recent years we have experienced a large increase in incidents of violence in clinics - also towards the medical staff members and in the hospitals. This is our invitation to call on all authorities to increase the security of the staff members in the clinics."

As I recall, yesterday a patient arrived at the general clinic in Holon who went to the pharmacy and asked the pharmacist for fentanyl patches (a drug used to relieve severe pain).

When his request was not accepted, the patient pulled out a weapon and threatened to shoot himself if he did not immediately receive the stickers.

The staff at the clinic contacted the police, called for help and were instructed to hide in a protected room, but the patient arrived there and threatened them.

A short time later the suspect was arrested.

Following the incident, the general doctors organization is expected to close the clinic as a sign of protest against the increasing violence.

As mentioned, this is another incident of violence at the general health insurance clinic in Holon, this after the late nurse Tova Carrero was set on fire five and a half years ago.
