The whole mess surrounding Superman star Henry Cavill has pretty much battered the trust of many DC fans in the still fresh franchise bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Now Gunn defends his course.

A few days ago, the news caused confusion that Henry Cavill would not return as Superman after all.

Though it previously seemed like he'd even given up his lucrative lead role on The Witcher for his DC comeback.

But the two heads of DC Studios (from Warner Bros. Discovery), James Gunn (“Guardians of the Galaxy”, “The Suicide Squad”) and Peter Safran (“Aquaman”, “Shazam!”), who have been in office since October, have other plans , namely for a younger Superman, who is then also played by a younger actor.

Many fans were very upset that Cavill was not allowed to return.

Overall, it was quite a downer for the new duo at the helm of the superhero division.

Gunn even felt compelled to defend his course on Twitter.

He vehemently resisted "angry and unfriendly" reactions.
