Netflix: what is season 3 of "Emily in Paris" worth?

2022-12-21T20:11:45.362Z

The new adventures of the American in Paris lack surprises, but will let you watch after a festive meal that is a little too copycat

Did you have an extra round of turkey for dinner?

The weather is so bad that you just want to be one with your sofa?

If you answer yes to one of these two questions, season 3 of the series “Emily in Paris” is made for you.

For others, go your way!

With her ten new episodes filmed last summer in the capital, Emily reconnects with her tribulations all in clichés (claimed) of her life as an advertiser in France.

If at the end of season 2, the scenario could leave the door open to a continuation of the plot in London, the first images of this new salvo of adventures clearly indicate that the stories will not be relocated immediately beyond Channel, but continue to enjoy the superb scenery of the City of Light.

Emily (Lily Collins while mimicry for selfies to place on Instagram) will, this time, wade between her two bosses in open war, the American and the French, the omnipresent Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu.

This trench battle is obviously an opportunity to highlight the cultural differences between our country and the United States.

When the comic spring breaks...

But where the shoe pinches is that there is almost nothing left but this comic spring, often effective but here worn to the bone in this new season where the spectator, even well disposed, risks starting to saturate.

So yes, there are strikes in France (climb 1), yes, the elevators are often broken down (climb 2), yes, the French smoke a lot and drink red wine at work (climb 3, cliché 4), but all this put end to end is not enough to make a good series.

Far from it !

Emily seems bored and so do we.

Not to mention the abundance of product placements, an episode turning into a 25-minute commercial for a famous fast-food chain...

Editor's note:

2/5
