Many product designers see lighting as an opportunity to express an artistic vision, and turn the lighting body into a piece equivalent to a sculpture or other artistic item.

The freedom to create, play and adapt the product is expressed in modular lighting fixtures that adapt themselves to the requirements of the space and personal taste.

For example, lighting fixtures that look like a field of flowers hanging from the ceiling, in such a way that the hanging wire is not visible, but only the petals and stem that glow in the dark.

The solo exhibition, which is on display until January 12 in the Showcase Gallery at HIT (Holon Institute of Technology), is a local example of the ability to take the attitude towards lighting fixtures into worlds of distinct artistic value - this is an exhibition by the young artist and industrial designer, Chen Taoz.

She treats the light that is at the center of her works as a material, to which she adds other materials such as metals, textiles, ceramics, glass and more.

In Israel there are a number of product designers who stand out in the field of lighting in particular.

Yoav Beitner uses the trees he finds in his living area, and turns them into designed lighting fixtures.

Chen Zelkind works in a combination of metal and wood in a way that is identified with him.
