A man wearing a kippa was insulted and threatened with anti-Semitism in Berlin-Neukölln.
The state security at the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) took over the investigation into the incident on Wednesday evening, the police said.
According to initial findings, the 34-year-old is said to have left a bar around 9:40 p.m. and headed towards the Neukölln S-Bahn and U-Bahn station.
On the way, strangers are said to have suddenly shouted: "Fucking Jew, I'll beat you to death," a spokeswoman told SPIEGEL.
When the man, who was accompanied by a woman, pulled out his cell phone, the two perpetrators fled.
Again and again there are attacks on people who wear the traditional Jewish headgear - a small circular cap - as a visible sign of their faith.
Last March, for example, a 24-year-old Syrian man had his kippah knocked off his head in Prenzlauer Berg.
About a month later, a 32-year-old with a kippa-like cap was threatened with anti-Semitism in Berlin-Köpenick.
