"I can only thank the armed forces and convey the profound sense of appreciation I receive in the international community for the ability of our soldiers abroad in their missions, in particular for their ability to understand the territory, for their ability to relate with the populations, for the professionalism and great effectiveness of the action. The work carried out in these missions contributes to stability and peace, but also conveys a reassuring image of Italy, a protagonist and highly reliable in the world".

Thus the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella in the video message of greetings to the armed forces

.

"In this very complex moment in which the war has increased the difficulties and accentuated the fragility already present, Italy continues to make a great contribution and is making it even more and more within the international organizations in which it operates and which are the pillars of our defense and security policy, from the United Nations to NATO to the European Union. Such a large presence in missions abroad underlines how the work of the armed forces represents a great contribution to stability and peace in the world".

"On this occasion, more than necessary, a thought to the fallen is spontaneous to express pain and gratitude for their sacrifice and so that the memory is not set aside, as the armed forces appropriately and wisely do, taking care of their memory".

"I would like to conclude by thanking the families of our women and men in uniform who ensure important support for their activity which is so precious for the country. Italy is proud of its armed forces and I express gratitude for what they do in Italy and abroad ".

Then Mattarella expressed "the most intense wishes for Christmas and for a 2023 that we hope will be one of serenity and great satisfaction".
