Refined with balsamic vinegar, the onion jam goes particularly well with
steak

that is guaranteed to surprise.
In the cold season, onion jam warms you better than any onion look and it also looks good thanks to the strong red color.
That's how it's done:
You need these ingredients:
1 kg red onions, cut into strips
3 tbsp cooking oil
1 tsp salt
0.5 tsp pepper
100 grams of brown sugar
1 tsp thyme
150 ml balsamic vinegar
100 ml red wine
The preparation is so easy:
Heat oil in a pan.
Season the onions with salt and pepper and sauté, stirring occasionally, until soft.
Add brown sugar, thyme, balsamic vinegar and red wine and bring to a boil.
You're done!
Pour into glasses or enjoy straight away.
Tip
: Even if a kilogram of red onions seems a lot at first glance, you should not fall back on fewer onions.
Steaming already reduces the amount sufficiently.
