A dishwasher is extremely easy to use - and yet small mistakes that can damage the device happen again and again in everyday life.
Once you get used to a dishwasher, you won't want to give it up.
After all, it saves an enormous amount of time and work if the cleaning of the pots, plates and cutlery is done by a machine.
However, to ensure that you can use your device for a long time, you should treat it with care.
Sometimes even small, careless mistakes can reduce the life of the dishwasher.
You forget to clean the filter regularly
The dishwasher also needs to be cleaned from time to time – especially the filter.
Food leftovers and grease residues collect in it, which can eventually clog the sieve.
In addition, this may mean that the water can no longer be pumped out properly.
To avoid this, it is best to clean the filter every four to six weeks.
It can usually be found on the bottom of the dishwasher - if not, then take a look at the operating instructions first.
Then empty the machine and remove the dish rack.
The filter itself can be removed very easily: wash it with washing-up liquid and a washing-up brush and it will be like new again.

The dishwasher salt is not refilled
With each wash cycle, a tab is first placed in the appropriate compartment of the dishwasher.
It is sometimes forgotten that the dishwasher salt should also be refilled regularly.
It ensures that the machine's ion exchanger regenerates and thus prevents limescale from forming on the dishes, as reported by the online portal
Kueche.de
.
At the same time, depending on the degree of hardness of the water in your region, it can also lead to calcification in the machine if the salt is not refilled - which in turn can damage the machine.

The dishwasher door is closed immediately after use
As soon as the dishes are washed and tidied up, many users immediately close the flap again.
However, this can have negative consequences: For example, because there is still residual moisture in the machine, which increases the risk of mold.
It therefore makes sense to leave the door open for a few hours after use.
And it also has an advantage: if the dishes are still in the dishwasher while the steam is escaping, they can dry without leaving streaks.

But there is also an exception: If there is a lot of wooden furniture in the immediate vicinity of the dishwasher, the escaping steam can cause it to swell, as the online portal
Chip.de
informs.
You should therefore keep the dishwasher closed for about half an hour after the end of the program before opening it.
