Spontaneous visit announced?

Then don't panic.

With a few tricks, you can ensure that the chaos disappears.

Anyone who spends a few evenings snuggled up on the sofa or spends a lot of time in the home office will quickly notice that a bit of disorder is gradually creeping in: A dirty cup here, a stack of letters there - and soon it seems as if nobody has left for a long time cleaned.

If a visit is announced spontaneously, excitement is the order of the day.

How do you get rid of the chaos as quickly and effectively as possible?

With three tricks you can make the apartment look cleaner again.

Put clothes and utensils in baskets

It is best to throw loose clothing in a basket provided for this purpose.

This keeps the textiles tidy and out of sight at the same time - for example, if the container has a lid or flap.

Other items, such as magazines, can also be easily put into baskets or boxes before visitors arrive.

Letters lying around end up in a paper tray or spices in your spice rack.

So some order has returned.

If a visit is announced spontaneously, the apartment often has to be made presentable in no time at all.

Close cupboards and drawers

Open shelving is perfect for displaying your book collection or photos, but anything else that just sits around and makes a mess should be hidden behind locked cupboards and drawers.

After all, guests will not usually rummage through your storage spaces - and it gives the impression of cleanliness.

If the tidied up items actually belong somewhere else, you can always correct that afterwards.

Fold blankets and bedclothes

When the blanket is crumpled up on the sofa, it looks messy at first glance.

With a few simple steps, however, the blanket can be folded or spread out on the couch, making it look much more inviting and tidier.

The same applies to the bed linen: the bed seems chaotic as soon as you get up – but quick folding and straightening solves the problem in no time.

Sweep through briefly with the broom

Even if you have only recently wiped: Dust, hair and food crumbs collect very quickly in the corners of the room or under tables.

So if you want the apartment to look tidy, you should at least sweep the most important rooms where the guests will be with a broom.
