Inter goalkeeper André Onana says goodbye to his national team, that of Cameroon.
He does so with a long and heartfelt post on Twitter, in which he first of all recalls "how we lived the matches with the whole family, only the Cameroonians can understand what it means for a player to be able to represent our national team. It was then that I started dreaming of one day wearing the Indomitable Lions shirt".
"So after endless hours of work, endless travel and a lot of perseverance - continues Onana -, I can proudly say that I have achieved my great dream.
However, every story, no matter how good, has an end.
And my story within the Cameroon national team has come to an end.
Players come and go, names are ephemeral, but Cameroon passes before any person or player.
Cameroon is eternal.
How eternal is my love for the national team and for our people who have always supported us, no matter how difficult the moment was".
"My feeling will never change, my Cameroonian heart will continue to beat wherever I go - he explains - , I will always fight to take my country as high as possible.
From now on, I will continue, as more than 27 million Cameroonians do in every match, to follow and support our team from the outside.
I can't do anything but thank all those who trusted me and believed in the contribution I could bring to this team.
The nation before everything and forever".
At the recent World Cup in Qatar Onana had had problems, for disciplinary reasons, with the coach of his national team Rigobert Song, and had left the retreat of the Indomitable lions before the group stage match against Brazil.
