Aldi wants to benefit from the Christmas business and is significantly reducing the price of butter.

A competitor is also following suit.

Munich – In addition to jam and fresh rolls, butter is a must at the classic German breakfast table.

The milk product is also popular apart from its use as a topping for bread, be it for a fine sauce, as fat for the baking pan or for frying the schnitzel.

But like most other staple foods, butter has had a wild ride in terms of price.

But Aldi has a pre-Christmas present ready for consumers, lowers the price and wants to benefit from the Christmas business.

Butter breaks the two-euro mark: Aldi in the Christmas price war

Rock-bottom prices for staple foods – Aldi is trying to use this strategy to set itself apart from its competitors.

A difficult task at a time when food prices are skyrocketing.

The consequences for the company if it breaks its price promise, it was recently able to experience with its own organic milk.

But shortly before Christmas, the discounter drastically lowers its price for at least one food item.

Margarine as an alternative – sales down compared to the previous year

Aldi now wants to rectify this situation and is lowering the price for half a pound of butter to EUR 1.99, or EUR 7.96 per kilogram.
