His mother commented on her son's heartbreaking death in the media and social media channels: "My son was not just the victim of a stray bullet, he is the victim of decades of neglect that left New Orleans without hope for the future."
Among other things, the mother attacked the mayor and the leaders.
"It's time for the leaders in our city and everywhere to do their job. It doesn't matter who the president is, who the governor is, and who the mayor is."

"He was a really good guy," added family lawyer Juan Laponte.
"Always pushed himself forward and never got involved in anything negative."
Leponte also pointed an accusing finger at the authorities: "People need to understand that what leads to atrocities like this is the failure of our city leaders."
New Orleans council member Oliver Thomas commented on Montreal's death: "Another one of ours was taken senselessly. We keep asking when it will end while looking for solutions for change. But it has become a way of life here."
Meanwhile, the New Orleans police released the security footage, showing the two suspects inside the gray "sedan" car.
