Purim in Mea Shearim and Palestinians on the shores of Tel Aviv: the exhibition "Local Evidence" opened Israel today

The exhibition that opened at the Eretz Israel Museum puts the work of press photographers at the center • "It allows us to look deeply at the significant events of the year," says curator Leah Abir • Among the exhibitors: "Israel Today" photographers, Yehoshua Yosef and Oren Ben Hakon


At the end of the week, the "Local Evidence" and "World Press Photo" exhibitions opened, presented every year at Moza, the Land of Israel Museum.

In the exhibition "Local Witness" they chose to highlight the work of the photographers of the press, which develops and improves over the years, and it presents a journalistic tradition of investigative communication.

Alongside "Edut Mekomit" the international exhibition "World Press Photo" was also opened, which aims to encourage free communication and excellence in the field of photojournalism and documentation.

Among the photographers chosen to present in the exhibition are two "Israel Hayom" photographers - Yehoshua Yosef and Oren Ben Hakon.

Ben Hakon presented in the Religion and Faith category his photo from the Purim lily celebrations before the holiday feast, in the Mea Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Yosef presented in the Society and Community category his photo, in which young Palestinians are seen hanging out at Bogarshov Beach in Tel Aviv in the days after the Feast of the Sacrifice, which won first place in the category.

From the exhibition,

This year, 6,256 photographs taken by 353 professional photographers were submitted, from which 57 participants were selected to present 173 photographs and nine video works.

The categories the works deal with are news, nature and environment, religion and belief, society and community, sports, urbanism and culture and long exposure.

According to the curator of the exhibition, Leah Abir: "Edut Komitim is an exhibition that every year stops time for a moment, and brings into one space significant moments from the past year. The exhibition allows us to look deeply at the sights and face those events. This exhibition allows us to understand, discuss and experience the complexity of opinion and emotion ".
