The perfect last minute dessert
At Christmas, gingerbread, also known as spice cake, honey cake or gingerbread, is indispensable.
The sweet treat originally had nothing to do with Christmas.
After the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648), gingerbread and Christmas became an inseparable couple.
The ingredients for gingerbread were expensive and scarce, so the sweet treat was only served on special occasions, such as breaking the fast on Christmas Eve.
Luckily for us, because thanks to the delicious gingerbread we can conjure up this delicious lightning-fast layered dessert on the holidays with just a few ingredients!
That's how it's done:
You only need a few ingredients:
Gingerbread:
200 g gingerbread, covered with chocolate
50 ml cherry juice
Cream:
200 grams of whipped cream
1 pack cream stiffener
250 g edible quark
100 g powdered sugar
1 packet of vanilla sugar
0.5 tsp cinnamon
cherries:
350 g sour cherries (from glass)
2-3 tbsp amaretto, to taste
The preparation is simple and quick:
For the gingerbread layer:
Cut the gingerbread into cubes.
Mix the gingerbread cubes with 50 ml cherry juice (from the morello cherries glass).
Put aside.
For the cream:
whip the cream with the whipped cream stiffener.
Mix the quark with the powdered sugar, vanilla sugar and cinnamon until smooth.
Gently fold in the whipped cream.
For the cherries:
Drain the sour cherries or morello cherries well from the jar.
Mix with 2-3 tbsp amaretto if you like.
Alternately layer the dessert in glasses, starting with gingerbread.
Put a layer of cream on top and finish with cherries.
Repeat until the glasses are filled.
Leave in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Zack - done!
