The Ukrainian government aims to hold a

peace summit by the end of February

, preferably at the United Nations with Secretary-General António Guterres as a possible mediator, around the first anniversary of Russia's invasion.

This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister

Dmytro Kuleba

in an interview with the Associated Press.

Asked if they will invite Russia to the summit, Kuleba replied that first Moscow will have to agree to be prosecuted for war crimes by an international tribunal: "Only in this way can they be invited".

Kuleba yesterday announced his

request for

the exclusion of Russia from the United Nations Security Council

and by the UN itself.

"We will officially state our position. We have a very simple question: Does Russia have the right to remain a permanent member of the Security Council and to join the UN?"

Kuleba said speaking late yesterday evening during a nationally televised Christmas marathon.

"We have a convincing and reasoned answer: no, it hasn't," she said.

The Ukrainian foreign minister recalled that the issue of Russia's permanent seat on the UN Security Council - also held by the United States, the United Kingdom, France and China - is already under discussion in diplomatic circles.

Affirming that the issue has not yet been raised in press conferences and public statements by state and government leaders,

Three people have died in an attack by a Ukrainian drone on a military airfield in Russia's Saratov region that was

thwarted by Moscow's air defences, the Russian Defense Ministry said today.

"The Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was approaching Engels airport at a low altitude," the TASS news agency said in a statement.

"Three members of the Russian technical service at the airport suffered fatal injuries from falling drone fragments," the ministry added.

Four "Ukrainian saboteurs" were "eliminated" as they attempted to infiltrate from Ukraine into Russian territory

, in the Bryansk region: according to the Russian secret service FSB, quoted by Tass.

The incident would have happened yesterday.

On the spot, writes the FSB, there was a shooting.

President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the procedure for applying for Russian passports by residents of the annexed Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson or Zaporizhzhia regions

from Russia.

Ria Novosti reports it.

"I decide to approve the attached procedure for the submission by persons who have acquired the citizenship of the Russian Federation as a result of recognition as citizens of the Russian Federation, an application for the issuance of a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation (... ) and the procedure for submitting and registering applications for unwillingness to be a citizen of Ukraine,” the document reads.

Together with the application, residents of the new territories must provide an identity document and documents confirming registration at the place of residence in the Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson or Zaporizhzhia regions.

Putin also approved the procedure for recognizing a minor under the age of 14 as a Russian citizen.

For the second time on Christmas day, the air raid alarm was sounded throughout Ukraine

.

This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda specifying that the sirens began to sound in the regions of Kiev and Lviv and then spread to the rest of the country.

The 'Belarusian Gayun' monitoring group reported that at 14:00 the Il-76 A-50U 'Serhiy Atayants' long-range radar tracking aircraft took off from Machulyshchy in Belarus.

Soon after, a Russian Air Force MiG-31K fighter jet, which can carry Dagger missiles equipped with nuclear warheads, took off.

Russia is ready to negotiate with all parties involved in the war in Ukraine

.

This was stated yesterday by President Vladimir Putin, accusing Kiev and its Western allies of "refusing" to negotiate.

The Guardian reports it.

Speaking in an interview on state television Rossiya 1, Putin said: "We are ready to negotiate with all involved on acceptable solutions, but it depends on them: we are not the ones who refuse to negotiate."

But Kiev's reply immediately arrives: "Putin needs to get back to reality. Russia attacked Ukraine alone and is killing civilians. Russia does not want negotiations, but is trying to avoid its responsibilities. This is obvious, so we are moving towards the Tribunal",

Ukraine, Zelensky: 'We won't wait for a miracle for Christmas, we create it'

The Russian president said the West is aiming to "divide" Russia.

Putin said he was "100% sure" that Russia would destroy US Patriot missiles sent to Ukraine.

The West is trying to "divide" Russia into Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said this today, after more than ten months of the Kremlin's military offensive against his neighbor.

"Everything is based on the policy of our geopolitical adversaries, who aim to divide Russia, historical Russia", Putin denounced in an interview, an extract of which was broadcast on Russian television, assuring that the "goal" of Moscow was "much more: to unite the Russian people".
