“16Personalities”, the test that allows you to get to know yourself better and which is a hit around the world

From the professional sphere to dating applications, the results of this personality test are displayed everywhere. But what does it really reveal about us?


ISFJ, ENTP, ISFP… If you happen to drag your gaiters on dating sites, you may have already come across these four-letter combinations in the profiles of certain subscribers.

No, it's not the name of the business school they graduated from, nor are they variants of LOL and other MDR.

These are the results of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), more commonly known as the 16 personality test.

It appeared for the first time in 1962, on the initiative of the two Americans who gave it their name: Isabel Briggs Myers (1897-1980), a novelist with a passion for statistical studies, and her mother, Katherine Cook Briggs (1875- 1968), theorist and psychologist.

Together, they developed this 88-question questionnaire by supplementing their research with the work of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung, on "Psychological Types", published in 1921.
