The state funeral of
Franco Frattini, who died on 24 December at the age of 65,
will be held today, at 11.30, in the Basilica of the Holy Apostles, in Piazza Santi Apostoli in Rome.
They will be celebrated by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re. The president of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, will participate in the funeral.
The President of the Republic

and the Prime Minister
Giorgia Meloni
arrived at the church of Santi Apostoli to participate in the funeral.
Previously, the Speaker of the Chamber
Lorenzo Fontana
and many government officials had arrived in Santi Apostoli, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, Ministers Guido Crosetto, Annamaria Bernini and Gennaro Sangiuliano.

Shortly before the funeral, the Council of Ministers met and approved the
state funeral
. The meeting lasted just under 10 minutes, with the ministers present Andrea Abodi, Bernini, Antonio Tajanj, Guido Crosetto, Roberto Calderoli, Orazio Schillaci, Gennaro Sangiuliano, Marina Calderone, Matteo Piantedosi and Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano.
