Motorists don't have it easy.

Above all, the high fuel prices are currently causing them problems.

On top of that, there is still a lot to do in the coming year.

An overview.

Munich – The unofficial head of homeland and high-tech, Markus Söder (CSU), has a heart for drivers.

He is now calling for a fuel price brake.

Public transport tickets are good for the city, but "in the country you need a car," he argued in an interview with the Tagesschau.

And indeed, prices at gas stations have only been going in one direction in recent months – upwards.

The prices for petrol and diesel are high, which Bavarian motorists in particular felt in the summer.

Buying a new car is still a lengthy process and the legislator is constantly imposing new regulations.

Future changes are also likely to cause some annoyance among drivers in this country.

Drivers will soon see these changes:

  • Car insurance is becoming more expensive for many drivers

  • General inspection for drivers who are on the road with a pink sticker

  • State subsidies for e-cars are to be drastically reduced in 2023

  • Driver's license exchange pending

  • There are new standards for the first aid kit

  • Changes for motorists: New risk assessment for millions of drivers

Let's start with the most important point, car insurance.

As every year, there is a new type class classification for cars.

    According to

    Chip.de

, around 13 million drivers are generally affected.

Although around 4.8 million drivers will benefit from better type classes, higher classifications will apply to around 8.1 million from 2023.

In addition, there are also new regional classes in risk assessment.

    Around 10.1 million drivers have to accept increases;

after all: for 5.5 million it is cheaper.

Which drivers will be subject to changes can be easily queried online from the General Association of the German Insurance Industry on this page.

It shows that in the case of comprehensive insurance for around 2.98 million and for around 3.1 million partially comprehensive insurance, poorer risk assessments will apply in the future,

    reports

    Chip.de.

Changes for motorists: New color for the general inspection

    Motorists who use the

pink sticker on the road have to go to the general inspection in the coming year.

A look at the number plate reveals in which month the car is due.

The number "23" is in the 12 o'clock position of the pink plaque.

From May next year, the so-called on-board fuel consumption monitoring data will also be read out during the general inspection.

Since 2021, all vehicles with first registration have been equipped with this software in order to be able to determine the actual fuel consumption.

Consumers who are considering buying an electric vehicle should know that subsidies for electric cars will fall drastically in the coming year.

Finance Minister Christian Lindner had already announced in the middle of the year that the purchase bonus for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids would be abolished.

So far, the funding pot is limited to 2.1 billion euros.

As soon as the money has been used up, there should be no more funding in 2023.

Changes for motorists: New driver's licenses and first-aid kits required

Driver's licenses also have an expiration date.

Driving licenses of all classes are affected by the regulation – i.e. cars, trucks and motorcycles.

Those born between 1959 and 1964 don’t have much time to exchange. They have until January 19, 2023 to exchange their old model for one in credit card format.

You can find out exactly which deadlines apply to whom on

    Merkur.de

    .

Drivers will have to pay a fee of between 35 and 45 euros for the new issue.

On top of that, there is another deadline for all vehicle owners with the key date: February 1, 2023. Until then, all drivers must carry a first-aid kit in accordance with DIN standard 13164:2022 in the trunk.

It is important to pack two FFP2 masks with you.

The car bag for emergencies can be purchased online from as little as ten euros.

There is good news for all the upcoming non-free changes as well.

    With the so-called

Greenhouse gas quota (GHG) electric car drivers can secure between 360 and 440 euros.

However, you have to take care of this environmental bonus yourself.
