(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 28 - Unforgettable seasons of TV and film production are linked to him.

His professional life (apart from a one-year interlude at Mediaset) is linked to Rai, in which he held important positions, which contributed to the growth and modernization of the public radio and television service.

Farewell to Carlo Fuscagni, who died today in his Città di Castello at the age of 89.


   Nino Fuscagni's older brother, Carlo Fuscagni, after graduating in literature at the La Sapienza University of Rome, had embarked on a career in journalism by joining Rai in 1960 and working on the news, the weekly TV7, coordinating cultural sections and directing some variety shows as well as being head of the cinema sector.


   In 1979 he was among the "founders" of the third Rai network directed by Giuseppe Rossini.

In 1980 he moved to Canale 5 of Silvio Berlusconi, as general manager.

A year later he returned to Rai: here he occupied the role of assistant director of Raiuno, then deputy director for two years and finally director of the network for five years, from 1988 to 1993, the year in which he received the Hystrio Award dedicated to video theatre.

Subsequently he became president of the Rai Corporation in New York and president of Sipra.

From 1994 to 1995 he was also assistant to the then general manager of Rai Franco Iseppi and also, from 1995, coordinator of Rai programs for the Jubilee 2000. In 2003 he collaborated with the external relations department for the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Italian TV.

Outside the professional activity on TV,

he has held important roles in the cultural field.

From 1 January 2004 he joined the board of directors of AIP.

On 24 May 2004, appointed president of Cinecittà Holding SpA Fuscagni was always linked to Città di Castello and Umbria.

He was president of the Festival of Nations, which he promoted internationally.

For some years he had been a guest in the residence of San Francesco di Sales in Città di Castello, where he passed away today.

The funeral will be held in the church of Sant'Agostino, in via Cacciatori del Tevere at 2 pm on Friday 30 December.

For some years he had been a guest in the residence of San Francesco di Sales in Città di Castello, where he passed away today.

The funeral will be held in the church of Sant'Agostino, in via Cacciatori del Tevere at 2 pm on Friday 30 December.
