Hackers have apparently gained access to British presenter Piers Morgan's Twitter account.
Unknown people sent offensive and derogatory comments through the 57-year-old's account.
According to the broadcaster CNN, the late British Queen Elizabeth, the singer Ed Sheeran and the boxer Andrew Tate were insulted.
Morgan's show Piers Morgan Uncensored confirmed that the account, which had 8.3 million followers, was hacked.
The show makers turned to Twitter boss Elon Musk for help and asked him to get the account back from the hackers.
Hacker messages still visible
Some of the messages sent by the hackers were still visible in the Twitter app on Wednesday morning, but not in the desktop version of the short message service.
Morgan's profile picture was also removed, and according to CNN, Morgan's profile name has since been changed.
Morgan recently caused a stir with an interview with soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo had made serious allegations against his then club Manchester United.
Shortly thereafter, the club separated from the Portuguese.
Morgan criticized Duchess Meghan – and refused to apologize
The moderator had also repeatedly criticized British Prince Harry and his wife Meghan in the past.
For example, he said he did not believe Meghan's statements that she had mental problems during her time in the British royal family.
In 2021, Morgan left the popular show Good Morning Britain on camera after refusing to retract the statements.
