(ANSA) - VENICE, DECEMBER 28 - Concert canceled at the La Fenice Theater in Venice for Valentina Lisitsa, the Ukrainian-born pianist who has expressed pro-Putin positions.
The concert, organized by Musikamera, was to be held in the Sale Apollinee.
The controversy that broke out on social media after the announcement of the event caused the appointment to be skipped.
The organizers decided to stop.
A gesture that the pianist did not like, who replied piquedly to the cancellation letter that she had to "succumb to the anonymous and aggressive crowd" of her detractors.
"Music and culture must unite peoples and not divide them", the president of Musikamera Sonia Finzi told ANSA, specifying that her association has always declared itself superpartes.
The Venetian theater that lent only the halls was extraneous to the story.
