Classic before the end: Thomy removes popular mustard jars from the range

First a mustard glass, then a drinking glass - a classic that everyone knows.
Now, however, Thomy decides to close this chapter.
Kassel – Whether with bratwurst or in a dressing, mustard is a popular and versatile dip.
A well-known supplier of mustard is Thomy and they had a special feature: the mustard glass could be used as a drinking glass as soon as it was empty - simply rinse it out and you're done.
The recycled mustard jars can be found in numerous German households.
Entire generations have grown up with them, and now the whole thing is about to come to an end.
At the request of the
General Anzeiger
, the Thomy food company confirmed that it would change the glass model.
The previous mustard jars have been replaced since the beginning of October.
The new mustard jars have a screw cap.
This should make them easier to use, explains a spokeswoman.

No more drinking glasses from Thomy - the end of a classic
Customers are apparently upset.
On Instagram, under a post from the radio station
YouFM
, a user says: "I was also very shocked when I saw it last week.
Now no more mustard drinking glass can break!”
The Thomy drinking glass is a cult product.

Other users are nostalgic: "I still have mustard glasses as drinking glasses that my grandmother gave me.
Are also about 30 years old”.
Others also have memories of the mustard jars: "My mother still has the mustard jars with Maya the Bee print, from which I drank Bluna in 1981," writes a user.
Others see things a little more calmly: "The closet is full anyway," comments another Instagram user under the picture.
The Thomy drinking glasses will soon disappear from the shelves.

Even if many only know the jars from Thomy, reusable mustard jars have a tradition that goes back to the 19th century, writes the

But not only the Thomy glasses will soon no longer be found on the shelves of Rewe, Edeka and Co.
Products were also withdrawn from the market in other sectors.
For example, the fashion chain C&A also dropped a cult brand from its range.
But there are always products that have the potential to become real cult products.
A lot will also change for consumers next year, because new regulations and changes in the law will come into force in 2023.
