Treasure hunt in Israel: a beach in Ashkelon was littered on Tuesday with thousands of retail products, from pacifiers to packaging, including… a fridge, pulled out of the water by several men.
And for good reason, earlier in the day, nine containers from a freighter fell into the sea;
six of them washed up on the coast.
The Israelis went to great lengths to recover them, grabbing full bags.
Interested in the loot that these containers contained, thieves even tried to rip open those that had remained closed.
This container sinking took place earlier in the day on Tuesday, according to The Times of Israel.
“The freighter reportedly sought protection from rough seas in the port of Ashdod, the Israeli media explained, but due to the dangerous conditions, the staff finally chose to go back to sea, and the containers fell to the water.
Three containers lost at sea have not yet been found.
