Two things seem unstoppable: the path of water and James Cameron's box office success.
Now the second Avatar film has cracked the billion at the box office and that in just 14 days.
More records are likely to follow in 2022.
James Cameron's film "Avatar: The Way of Water" (review here) officially broke the billion mark at the box office on Tuesday.
It only lasted 14 days and is therefore a record of the year.
Only “Top Gun: Maverick” made the sound barrier in 2022 and none of the Marvel films of the year, for example.
The Sony and Marvel flick "Spider-Man: No Way Home", released in late 2021, previously managed 1.9 billion.
"Avatar 2" is only the sixth film to break the billion mark within the first two weeks of release and the fourth Disney film to do so.
According to Deadline, an additional $50.8 million was added Tuesday, bringing the international total to $712.7 million. The US market was $317.1 million at the time, and the global total was $1.029 billion.
