Drugstore Rossmann donates half a million euros to the children's clinic

The drugstore chain Rossmann called for a fundraiser for a children's clinic in Hanover in November.

In the end, the company added a tidy sum.

Hanover/Burgwedel – The situation in the children's hospitals is currently very tense.

The so-called RS virus (RSV) is pushing the hospitals in Baden-Württemberg and other federal states to the limit.

For young children, and especially infants, infection can be quite dangerous - and there is no vaccine or medication to protect the little ones.

After the corona pandemic, it is the next major challenge for the clinics in the country to be mastered.

There are hardly any free beds left in the children's hospitals and there is a lack of staff.

At the same time, the diseases mean that there is now a shortage of medicines in pharmacies.

Financial losses from the past few years also play a role, as the children's hospital "AUF DER BULT" in Hanover shows.

That's why the drugstore chain Rossmann thought about a big fundraiser before Christmas.

At the beginning of November, the drugstore Rossmann called on its customers in the branches in the Hanover region to support the "AUF DER BULT" children's hospital.

Any amount donated will be matched by the company, it said.

In the end, a total of 30,000 euros came together, as Rossmann writes on his website - and the drugstore chain still has a surprise in store.

"But we're going to do a little more and donate a total of 500,000 euros," says Rossmann.

With the donation of half a million euros, the company wants to draw attention to the financial emergency in the health sector for children.

"Especially in such challenging times as these, not only the employees on site, but above all the small patients depend on our help.

That is why it is a matter of the heart for us to support the Children's and Young People's Hospital AUF DER BULT with this fundraiser," says Rossmann Managing Director Raoul Roßmann.

A specialized skin center is created from the donations

The children's clinic "AUF DER BULT" is one of the highly specialized facilities in the treatment of children and adolescents.

Nevertheless, the hospital lacks the urgently needed financial resources to care for around 11,000 inpatients and 40,000 outpatients per year.

The money donated by drugstore Rossmann is now flowing into a specialized and broadly based skin center.

Family-friendly rooms should be set up so that sick children and their parents feel comfortable.

In addition to toys and handicrafts, other specially trained "children's skin guides" and "butterfly sisters" who specialize in caring for children with skin diseases are hired, and innovative devices for treatments are purchased.
