Nine public holidays fall on weekdays: 2023, the year of bridges

We forget the one that ends.

With May 1 and May 8 falling on a Sunday, and December 24 falling on a Saturday, fans of long weekends were not in for a treat in 2022. The year ahead will be a much better one. raw, with days off ideally set on weekdays.

In this game, May will look like a festival, since the 1st and 8th fall this time on a Monday.

It will therefore suffice to take days off from Tuesday 2 to Friday 5, then from Tuesday 9 to Friday 12, i.e. eight days in total, to benefit from two full weeks of vacation!

Same logic for July 14, set on a Friday in 2023, then for Tuesday August 15, or even for November 1 (a Wednesday).

Only November 11 resists: it's a Saturday!

The calendar aspect of the year which will begin this Sunday is also a godsend for tourism professionals, accommodation providers or travel manufacturers.

“Long weekends are always periods with high demand for stays, observes Marion Bertaux, editorial manager of VoyagesPirates, a site that distills good deals on the Net.

By playing on a day of early departure or that of a staggered return, it is possible to sell one or two additional nights.

This is a winning solution for both sides because, for travellers, the fact of traveling outside peak periods allows them to obtain fares, by air or rail, which are much more advantageous since these are the supply and demand levels that affect price levels.

Interesting rates if you get there early

The month of May will offer, for example, enormous possibilities for those who can escape for a few days, but also a full week or even two for the luckiest.

“As of January, we are going to scrutinize the packaged offers of travel agencies and producers who will offer traditional one-week stays from Saturday to Saturday, continues Marion Bertaux.

Especially since at this time, direct flights from France to classic summer tourist destinations will just be reopened after the winter break.

It will be possible to find easily, and certainly at attractive prices if you book in advance, tickets for Greece or Croatia for example.

For those, more and more numerous, who will choose to stay in France, the camping option from the month of May is not to be neglected either, with outdoor establishments which will also reopen in this period.

“The other trend, which will be boosted with this favorable calendar, is that of renting villas or large apartments to share with friends or family,” underlines Marion Bertaux.

We also think of cousinades, easier to organize during these long extended weekends than during the "real" summer holidays, when it is difficult to set a common date according to everyone's holidays in July or August.
