In the skin of his daughter.
For several days, a crazy
trend
has accumulated tens of millions of views on TikTok.
Grouped under the hashtag #turningmymomintome (
transforming my mother into me, in French),
short two-step videos show mothers parading first in their usual clothes, then returning dressed in their daughters' outfits.
Many are the mother-daughter duos to have lent themselves to the game, up to the singer Lizzo.
The concept is simple: the mother parades in her usual outfit in front of a camera held by her daughter, before leaving the room.
When she returns to the screen, the protagonist is the same, only the mother's wardrobe has given way to an outfit developed by her child.
With its false tunes from the film
Freaky Friday,
in which mother (Jamie Lee Curtis) and daughter (Lindsay Lohan) find themselves one fine day in each other's bodies, this trend systematically punctuated by the song
I Wish
by Skee -Lo, has found its audience.
“She looks so young”
The phenomenon is a real success on TikTok, comments in support: “so cute”, “I love her outfit”, or “she looks so young”.
A spirit without shading, despite the few shots that dot the videos.
The line is magnified: some mothers are sometimes in pajamas, or with a vacuum cleaner in hand, proof that the clichés of the home are still well anchored.
But the trend also shows that a simple change of outfit can change the perception that we have of a person.
And that she has of herself since the mothers adopt a different attitude and approach, in line with the clothes of their offspring.
