Would the punk scene have looked the same without Vivienne Westwood?
The designer, an atypical figure in British fashion, famous for her eccentricity and her commitments, died Thursday at the age of 81, in south London, surrounded by her family.
She left behind a career marked by the beginnings of a very “Do it Yourself” punk culture, mixing threadbare jackets and lacerated t-shirts, before wearing it to the top of the catwalks around the world.
