Fleece tights or the illusion of thin tights in the freezing cold

2022-12-30T17:03:14.273Z

For several weeks, this pair of tights presented as revolutionary has been all the rage on social networks. Explanations.

A pair of tights is stealing the show from influencers on TikTok.

Or serve their cause, as you choose.

The garment alone has racked up more than 8.3 million views.

Its particularity is not so lambda: it is fleece, made from polyester and elastane.

The videos devoted to it mostly evoke its thermal properties (it promises to keep the legs warm down to -15 degrees), while giving the illusion of wearing traditional tights.

Understand: in appearance it seems very thin, despite the thickness of the fabric (a fleece lining), and transparent because of a veiled flesh color with a black sticky effect print.

Its virality is therefore due to this trompe-l'oeil game.

Its price varies between 5 euros and 20 euros depending on the brands that market it,

"My best purchase for Christmas", "the legs don't seem bigger"... In the comments of the numerous test videos, a good number of users are satisfied.

Some, however, specify that the black surface "cracks quickly", like any traditional tights.

Not enough to discourage consumers: the craze goes beyond the Chinese social network.

The Google search engine has recorded an explosion of searches for “thermal tights” (+150%) or “transparent effect fleece tights” (+80%) over the past thirty days.

Queries that do not say whether we are on a simple fad or on a basic trend.
