Giovanni Pezzoli, drummer and co-founder of Stadio, died this evening.
He was 70 years old.
The news was given by Gaetano Curreri's band on the social profiles: "At 21.00 this evening unfortunately Giovanni left us. Our thoughts and our hearts are full of pain! We want to remember him with his smile and the desire to make music for make us and keep you entertained. Bye Giovanni ", wrote the Stadio, closing the post with a broken heart.
Bolognese, Giovanni Pezzoli was struck by a serious illness in the night between 24 and 25 March 2016, while he was on holiday in the mountains, a few weeks after his victory at the Sanremo Festival with the song 'Un giorno mi dirai' and a few days after the start of the 'Miss Nostalgia Tour'.
It was precisely to play that piece that Pezzoli returned to the stage for the first time the following August, at the Arena della Regina in Cattolica (Rimini): a return of a few minutes with the Stadio, introduced by an excited and moved Curreri and accompanied by an ovation.
In the meantime, he had been replaced live by Adriano Molinari, collaborator of Zucchero, then by Iarin Munari.
In June of last year Pezzoli was hospitalized for tests.
A month ago, on November 27, a post appeared on the 'Giovanni Pezzoli friends' Fb page, attributable to the artist, which had worried the fans: "Giovanni is not well. For now we cannot add anything else out of respect for him and of his family. We only ask you to be patient and think of Gio with all possible positivity, who we hope will be of help to him. These are difficult moments, please do not insist on asking for information. Thank you from the bottom of my heart".

Many colleagues and fans bid farewell on social media to Giovanni Pezzoli, drummer and co-founder of Stadio, who died yesterday in Bologna at the age of 70.
"When I'm gone, then let me go. Let me go, I have so much to see and do. Don't cry when you think of me, be thankful for the beautiful years I've given you with my presence. And you can only imagine how much you have given me happiness. I thank you for the love you have shown me. Now the time has come to travel alone", reads the Facebook page dedicated to the drummer, Giovanni Pezzoli Friends.
