(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 30 - Record year for Mediaset ratings.

For the World Cup in 2022, the Auditel data - underlines a note from Cologno Monzese - record the increase in the audience of the Mediaset networks in all the main programming bands, in contrast with the competition from the public service which sees a decline in audience even on the total audience.

In the 24 hours Mediaset networks grew by +2.3 percentage points also on the total of Italians, while the public service networks, despite the World Cup, fell by -1.4 points in 2022.

The gap on the 15-64 year-old target, the most important for advertising investors, increased further: over the day, with a 40.1% share, Mediaset's advantage over the public service exceeded 8 points.

In 2022, Mediaset's editorial work on its programming led to a growth in audiences of all the main genres: more audiences for entertainment, fiction, information.

This is demonstrated by the trends of the individual general interest networks.

Canale 5 is growing: the most watched network on the commercial target widens its gap from Rai 1 over the 24 hours by more than 5 percentage points (19.3% against 14.2%) on the active audience.

Italia 1 is growing, with its lead audience, the 15-34 year old target, increasing its gap from Rai2 in prime time, bringing it to 3.9 points (Italia1 8.5% / Rai2 4.6%).

Retequattro is growing, confirming its leadership over the 24-hour total audience compared to its direct competitor (4.2% against 3.8%) and increasing its advantage in the early evenings of information (5.7% against 4.4%)".

Finally, looking only at autumn 2022, the growth of the Mediaset networks is very significant both in the younger audience and in all Italians, where a historic overtaking even took place: from 4 September to 19 November Mediaset with a 37.9% share in the 24 hours surpassed the ratings of public service television (37.2%).

And in the early evenings it maintained its leadership over all Italians until the end of December (including the World Cup) with 39.5% against 36.0%.

Mediaset in 2022 managed to attract even the older audience accustomed to Rai programming.
