In supermarkets and discounters, a rush of customers is expected again.
But the markets are open quite late, even on New Year's Eve.

Is it so nice?
They wanted to start the transition into the new year 2023 all by themselves.
With a good movie on Amazon Prime, a bottle of Coke and a bag of chips.
And now this!
Quite unexpectedly and without prior notice, the visitor on New Year's Saturday is right on their doorstep - even with firecrackers from China in their luggage.
Only one thing helps now.
Quickly go to the supermarket and buy a few bottles to toast to a good new one.
A few slices of hearty raclette cheese would also be nice, so that nobody has to go to bed with an empty stomach at the end of the evening.
We looked around on the Internet for our readers of Merkur.de.
It turns out that the respective markets can have quite different opening times.

Basically, all supermarkets and discounters in Germany are closed on New Year’s Day – with the exception of gas stations and bakeries.
The latter are allowed to open for five hours on the first day of the year in many federal states.
So if you wake up with a bad hangover on January 1st, you can get water, beer or sparkling wine and bread there.
