On the Chinese social network, videos promoting “dupes” (“duplicate”, in French) are multiplying.
This term does not designate counterfeits, but rather imitations of the smells and textures of high-end brand cosmetics, such as Mac, Gucci or Chanel.

… These videos of less than a minute flourish on TikTok with a number of views that can go up to 1 million.
The hashtag #Dupe, in the singular, has more than 2 billion views on the social network, to which are added 1.2 billion views for the hashtag #Dupes, in the plural.
