Swede Mattias Ekstrom won the prologue of Dakar 2023 with his hybrid Audi, in a 13km loop around a field set up on the shores of the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia, with a time of 8 minutes.
Frenchman Sébastien Loeb, 2nd in the 2022 edition, placed the Prodrive Hunter in second place, one second behind him, followed by compatriot Stéphane Peterhansel (Audi).
The winner of the 2022 edition, the Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota), is in 4th place at 12 seconds, closely followed by Guerlain Chicherit (FRA/Prodrive) and Carlos Sainz (ESP/Audi).
