Up to 14°C higher than the average for the period between Austria and Hungary, 12°C higher along the European strip extending from the Black Forest to Ukraine;
below average only Scotland and
Norway as happened at Christmas.
Mattia Gussoni, meteorologist of the site www.iLMeteo.it, therefore confirms the presence of the African anticyclone over most of Europe.
Also in Italy the New Year's Eve will be African: the subtropical anticyclone from North Africa will in fact push mild air towards our country, bringing values of about 10 degrees hotter than normal in the North, especially in
the Alpine sector, and about 5-7°C in more in the Center-South.
We will have a tepid New Year's Eve everywhere, with a temperature of 10°C at midnight expected in Milan with local drizzle, 14°C in Genoa with showers, 15°C even in Florence in a
mainly dry but cloudy context;
Rome will toast under the stars with 10°C, Naples with 13°C and Matera with 8°C at an altitude of 400 metres.
Catania will be the hottest city today with
21°C but then, thanks to the clear sky, the temperature will drop to 9°C at midnight.
In Florence, 15°C is expected, a temperature that is recorded at midnight between the end of May and the beginning of June.
A hot New Year's Eve, therefore, like that of 2022 was;
there will be local and isolated drizzles: a few drops are expected along the axis of Genoa, Alessandria, Pavia, Milan but it will be a question of modest drizzle alternating with dry moments.
Instead, for the rest of the Peninsula we will experience a warm toast in dry weather: the bravest can swim at midnight, the sea water is around 16°C in the Centre-North, almost warm in the South with peaks of 19°C like in May.
