New Year's Eve will be unusually mild: 15 to 22 degrees are expected in the center and in the south, 9 to 17 degrees in the north.
This is reported by the German Weather Service (DWD).
In northern Germany, the turn of the year will be windy.
The German Weather Service (DWD) expects stormy gusts in the north-west on Saturday.
There could be gusts of wind in the mountains and on the sea, on higher mountain peaks there could be severe gusts of wind, sometimes even hurricanes, the meteorologists in Offenbach said on Saturday night.
"Extreme hurricane gusts at times on the Brocken."
Storm gusts on the North Sea
Intermittent rain is forecast for the night of New Year's Day in the northwest.
There, the meteorologists expected a continued strong gusty south-west wind and even gusts of wind on the North Sea.
"Otherwise largely dry and partly clear to the south." The temperatures are 12 to 8 degrees, in the south 9 to 2 degrees.
In southern and central Germany, New Year's Eve is a good time to go for a walk before the New Year's celebrations.
Up to the northern edges of the low mountain range, it will be increasingly free of precipitation and loosen up.
Sunny at times in the southwest and in the Alps.
More than 2000 hours of sunshine
According to an initial balance sheet by the DWD, there were an average of around 2025 hours of sunshine this year – more than ever since records began.
Whether 2022 was also the warmest year will only become clear after all measuring stations have been evaluated at the beginning of January, the DWD announced.
However, it is already clear that all months were too warm compared to the mean of the reference period between 1961 and 1990.
In addition, it was too dry.
The precipitation deficit is 15 percent.
