The corona virus is making a big comeback, and as if that wasn't enough - there are more and more cases of flu and RSV in recent times.

According to the data of the Ministry of Health, from the beginning of October 2022 until the end of this past week, 1,843 people were reported to be hospitalized with the flu, of which 356 were hospitalized in the last week.

The flu virus can cause serious illness, such as pneumonia, other respiratory complications, inflammation of the heart muscle and even death, and the only way to really protect yourself from it is a flu vaccine.

According to the data of the Ministry of Health, in the same period of time 1,808 people were hospitalized with RSV (or Respiratory syncytial virus) - a common cause of respiratory diseases.

409 of them in the last week.

The RSV virus causes respiratory disease, especially in babies and toddlers under two years of age, where it manifests as bronchiolitis.

And in addition to these two sick evils, there are more and more patients with Corona.

In the last week, there were over 1,000 infections per day on average, and it does not appear that the trend of increasing infections is stopping.

As of today there are 12,315 corona patients, and 545 hospitalized.

How do you differentiate?

One of the main problems in the current season is that it is difficult to distinguish between these diseases.

Lots of people suffer from breathing difficulties, cough, cold, sore throat and fever - and these can be signs of the three viruses.

So how do you know when to do a corona test?

Although there are quite a few similar symptoms, each disease also has unique symptoms, and the way in which the disease progresses is different.

Here are 5 characteristics that can be used to differentiate:

1. Characteristic symptoms:

loss of sense of taste and smell are more characteristic of corona, of course, compared to flu and RSV.

Wheezing is more appropriate for severe RSV infection.

2. The speed of the onset of symptoms:

flu symptoms tend to appear suddenly, compared to corona or RSV, so there will usually be a rapid and sudden onset of high fever.

The other two tend to come on more gradually, with gradually worsening symptoms.

3. Incubation time:

each of the viruses has a different incubation time.

Therefore it is important to try to understand when the exposure to each of them was.

Influenza symptoms tend to develop about two days after exposure to the patient, corona - 3-4 days from exposure and RSV appears 4-6 days from exposure to the patient from whom we suspect we have been infected.

4. Age of the patient:

Age plays an important role in the severity of symptoms.

It is very unlikely that an adult and healthy person will suffer from RSV symptoms, compared to flu and corona which can cause a more severe disease in adults.

Those who will suffer more severe RSV disease will be babies, children with lung disease, adults over 65 or a person with a weakened immune system.

5. The neighborhood virus

can also hint at what you are sick with.

The three viruses are highly contagious and there is a high chance that communities will get the same disease together.

Were you at a birthday party in a closed space and everyone tested positive for Corona?

It is more likely that if you develop symptoms you will also find yourself positive.
