Many people in Germany celebrated the turn of the year with colorful fireworks like the one here in Berlin.
After the pandemic-related sales bans of previous years, there was again a lot of banging, detonating and celebrating across the country:

In Berlin, the New Year's Eve party at the Brandenburg Gate was significantly smaller than in previous years due to limited ticket sales.
In other areas of the capital there were pyro attacks on the police and fire brigade.
Several officers were injured and emergency vehicles damaged.

The fire brigade was surprised "by the mass and intensity of the attacks on the emergency services".
